Writing Workshops and E-courses

Hi Everybody
Hope life is treating you well.

Pam and I just wanted to let you know about a couple of
writing events that you may be interested in.

This weekend I'm running a writing workshop (Making Money
From Writing) in our state's wonderful south-west and then
in a couple of weeks time I'll be hosting a writing
e-course (Writing From The Heart) available to anybody
anywhere - as long as they have access to the internet.

I've included information below about both events, but if
you have any questions please feel free to contact me
directly at elizabeth@writingtoinspire.com

Kind Regards
Elizabeth

‘Making Money From Writing’ workshop with Elizabeth Bezant

Saturday 23rd June 2007 at Lost Lake Winery, Pemberton

The thought of making a living as a writer is one that
appeals to many. Visions of relaxing on the verandah typing
on a laptop, or traveling the world with all your expenses
covered by the last article you wrote, have inspired many
people to put pen to paper. While, in truth, the life of a
freelance writer is rarely as visualised there are many
benefits; wearing your ugg boots to work, choosing your own
hours, picking the projects, even the occasional holiday
paid for by articles. However for many the true benefit of
writing for money is as a second income, something you can
do alongside your role as mother, earner, student, retiree,
and so on.

‘Many aspiring writers fail not through lack of drive, but
through lack of knowledge,’ says Elizabeth Bezant,
international freelance writer, writing coach and founder
of Writing To Inspire. ‘Editors are busy people and more
often than not they will take the piece of work that is
best targeted to their publication and that needs the least
amount of editing. To succeed it’s vital to know which
publishers to approach, which topics to write about, to say
nothing of how to write them and submit them.’

As somebody who has been a freelance writer for over a
decade these are topics that Elizabeth Bezant is all too
familiar with, they are also the ones she will be covering
in her Pemberton workshop this month. Renowned for her
inspiring and down-to-earth talks, Elizabeth will be
holding her popular all day workshop, ‘Making Money From
Writing’, at Lost Lake Winery, Vasse Hwy., Pemberton on
Saturday 23rd June. Suitable for writers of all levels and
ages, she will be covering important background knowledge
on writing, but also sharing some of the insights she has
gained during her time as a writer. Not only that, but
everybody attending will receive a complimentary copy of
her ‘I Want To Write, But Don’t Know Where To Start’
workbook and her ‘Effective Goal Setting For Writers’ DVD,
together worth $65. Then when you realise that you will
also be treated to Lost Lake’s sumptuous foods throughout
the day, it could make the day far too important to miss.
After all, what is $120 for this all day workshop when you
start to consider the cheques you could receive for well
targeted articles.

During the day Elizabeth will be covering specific topics
of: Introduction to life as a writer, Discovering ‘must
have’ article topics, Successfully submitting to
publishers, Writing true-life, short stories that sell.

Writing From The Heart e-course
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

Starts Thursday 5th July

~ a Writing to Inspire e-course ~
Facilitated by Elizabeth Bezant.

When it comes to writing about our own lives there are few
styles more powerful than a personal essay - well-written,
short, anecdotal, positive and touching stories about a
real live person. And they have become highly sort after by
anthologies, magazines and websites too. Many publishers
are willing to pay excellently for the right to print a
personal essay, regardless of whether it's been published
elsewhere. Ever since 1993, when the first 'Chicken Soup
for the Soul', by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hanson, was
published editors have seen the importance of these
heart-felt stories being shared.

We've all experienced events in our lives that are worthy
of sharing. And I'm not just talking about stories that
force us to reach for the tissues either, ones that make us
stop and think or that give us cause to chuckle are just as
sort after. Moments when we felt something on a new level,
when we finally understood or when the quietest of words
from a tiny child hit harder than a Mac truck. I challenge
anyone to say they haven't had events like this in their
life. We've all been there. In my time as a writer, I am
constantly surprised by how many stories each of us have.

So why not share them? Why not offer hope to others by
telling them how you've been on the edge of the abyss too,
but still came out on top? Why not delight others with the
simple lessons of a day?

Even if you don't want your story published for the whole
world to see, why not write it now so that you can leave it
for the generations to come? Or, perhaps, just write the
words for yourself. It doesn't matter what you choose to do
with your writing it's more important that you write it.

But, how do we find the right stories from our own lives?
How do we know what to leave in and what to leave out? What
is the best way to tell the story? How do we write them so
that they will touch the heart of a total stranger? And how
do we find a publisher who will to print our work?

In my time as writer I've written and had published more
than 40 personal essays, all in paying markets and many
more than once. People I have never met, from across the
world, have emailed me to say how my stories helped them,
how they could so closely associate with the story that
they couldn't stop the tears rolling down their face as
they read, how the story's insight made them laugh at a
problem they had previously seen as insurmountable. This is
the power of personal essays.

Throughout this course, I will work directly with you. Be
assured that I, and only I, will be looking at your
homework. I will also be the one critiquing your work, this
is not a course where homework is farmed out to others to
read. This might be an e-course, but it will be as
individual as any individual coaching. The only true
difference is in the cost. Since I'll have no traveling
time, no room hire and all the other costs involved in a
face to face classes I can offer you this course at a
drastically reduced price. To say nothing about being able
to offer it to you regardless of where you live or what
time of day you are free to study. There is also the
distinct possibility that since this is my first official
e-course I may be underestimating my personal time
requirement, which means next time I am able to fit this
course into my schedule prices may be higher. So don't miss
out. Book Today.

Take the words from your heart and put them on the page.

This a five week e~course planned to start on Thursday 5th
July 2007. Each week you will receive a lesson, complete
with homework to email back. By the completion of the
course, if all lessons and homework are completed, you will
have your own well-crafted personal essay ready to send off
to the market of your choice.

During this course you will not only discover how to write
a well-rounded and touching story, but will also receive
two 'line-by-line critiques' of your work, this last part
alone is worth over $80.00.
